About Rose Gennaro
Rose Gennaro is a Hudson Valley,NY Artist who has a passion for painting the beautiful scenery of the Hudson Valley, the Catskills, the Adirondacks, the Hudson Highlands and any other areas and scenes that inspire her from all over the world. Rose has a BS in Art Education from SUNY New Paltz and an MS in Fine Art from The College of New Rochelle. She has taught art privately and in the public schools, and is currently pursuing her own work. In addition, she has studied under accomplished artists Seth Nadel and Kevin Cook. Under the instruction of Kevin Cook, she learned the palette and techniques of the Hudson River School artists of the mid-19th century. This has evolved into a combination of that techniques with her more impressionistic style.
Many of her subjects are taken from hikes in the Catskills and the Hudson River region. Her love of hiking began as a quest to see the places in the area where the Hudson River School artists lived and painted, such as Thomas Cole and Frederick Church. in addition she is inspired by the scenic landscapes and historical sites in the area, and has a particular love for the brilliance of Fall and dramatic skies with sunrises and sunsets. All of her work is painted either on-site or from photographs that she has taken herself. Interpreting light and color are extremely important to her, and she tries to capture the essence of the subject in her paintings - to give the viewer the sense that they are experiencing what she experienced.
